Sovereign Syndicate (on Steam) Demo First Look

The first half of the demo was like a traditional role-playing game. It has text based dialog, but that didn't matter because the character building, challenge skill rolling and decision making was done well. Unfortunately the second half of the demo veered in a totally different direction. The story telling and dialog reading increased into visual novel proportions. Subject matter changed from intriguing adventure into drug usage and the orphaning of children. Decision choices no longer seemed to have impact on the story, of which had become completely linear. It was as if the game had a change of writers and direction before running out of ideas completely. The demo ended with a whimper, no cliffhanger, or notion of anything interesting to look forward too.
