Space Hotel As Early As 2021 - Start of Space Tourism
Space Hotel as early as 2021
Cost of launch going down !
Who’d thought SpaceX would have such an impact on development of the space economy.
The impact of the first Falcon 9 launch way back in 2010, and the latest reiteration of now re-usable rocket Falcon 9 Block 5 has transformed of how we view the space economy.
Arguably, Elon Musk has started the next space race, based on commercial principles.
The effect of this space race can be seen in falling cost of accessing Lower Earth Orbit and ability of smaller players to engaging in future space economy.
The latest player to join the space race, is little known company called Bigelow Aerospace, based at the outskirts of North Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bigelow Space Operations, is a division of Bigelow Aerospace, specializing in offering affordable inflatable space station solution.
The company has showcased its product line which includes B330 inflatable space modules, 330 cubic meter module is capable of acting as a commercial space stations or even as a space hotel.
B330 Module is based on BEAM or Bigelow Expandable Activity Module currently undergoing tests on International Space Station.
The close cooperation with the NASA, has helped Bigelow Aerospace to plan bolder future ahead, future in which number of commercial players including governments are involved in creating future space economy.
It is not difficult to imagine the company's inflatable space habitats eventually used as space hotels for the growing low-Earth orbit based space economy.
There’s growing number of players who see space economy important for future of humanity, players such as Virgin Galactic with serious plans for Space Tourism.
Blue Origin owned by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos which is developing whole new architecture, including reusable rockets that will rival SpaceX.
And not forgetting Elon Musk whose vision and ambitions started SpaceX and 21st century space race.
Bigelow Aerospace is focused on creating a more permanent structures and habitats in Low Earth Orbit that could actually be cheaper and more accessible to the large segment of the population, working with United Launch Alliance, SpaceX and Blue Origin to launch space habitats is instrumental in Bigelow Aerospace future business plans.
Collaboration among commercial space companies and entities is encouraging and ultimately will enable cheaper access to space. Question is, how soon will you be able to book your holiday in Low Earth Orbit? If Bigelow Aerospace had their way, as early as 2021.
