SpecialEffect | Alan Hartman talks about SpecialEffect
Alan Hartman, former Head of Xbox Games Studios, explains why he chose UK-based gamers' charity SpecialEffect to be the prime beneficiary of the auction of his 2017 Ford GT.
The Ford GT graced the cover of Forza Motorsport 6, and is being auctioned to raise valuable funds for the charity's work. This rare and highly sought-after supercar has been kindly been donated by Alan, who is a longstanding honorary Vice President of the charity. The auction, hosted by Bring a Trailer, runs from 5am Pacific time on 15 May 2025 and ends at 10am Pacific time on Friday 23 May.
SpecialEffect is a UK-based charity that's helping people with physical disabilities to play video games around the world.
Founded in 2007, we provide lifelong face-to face support on an individual basis to hundreds of people across the UK each year. We’re also answering thousands of enquiries from around the world and having an increasing global influence through our collaboration with hardware and software developers. Our own freely-available accessibility utilities are bringing the magic of gaming within reach of thousands more.
We don’t charge for anything we do. We simply aim to do whatever it takes to raise the quality of life of as many disabled gamers all over the world as possible. Consider supporting our work by becoming a regular giver: https://specialeffect.enthuse.com/donatemonthly#!/
