SPEED PUNKS!!! Is it another Mario Kart clone? Yup, more or less. This game is pretty good. The game has nice stage designs and music, handles well, and the characters resemble a particular character, Rayman, in their design. Developed by the not particularly well-known group, Funcom, (who handled the rare Sega CD port of Samurai Shodown and the mixed-bag SCD port of Fatal Fury Special, to name a few) it's actually deceptively challenging and will test your patience even on some of the early levels. Some of Funcom's best works are "Anarchy Online" and "The Longest Journey".
This game has a number of power-ups typical to these games, speed boosts you can catch on the circuit or use at will, and a lot of tracks to unlock. The game starts with an "Easy" set of tracks, and the difficulty is measured by the stage sets, so it's not something you can change in the options. To get new levels, you have to unlock them. Don't worry though; You'll quickly get a taste of what you're in store for in the future. There are also a few racers you can unlock too and one of its best features is to have up to four players with a Multi-tap. Enjoy.
