285The Clone Saga was a time in Spider-Man comics where it seemed as though we had reached a point of no return in the story of the webslinger.
Peter Parker was out of the webs, he and Mary Jane Watson were expecting a baby daughter, and Ben Reilly was taking up the mantle of Spider-Man in his clone brother's place.
I really do wish we could have seen an era of Marvel comics where a character like Peter Parker was allowed to have his happy ending, it certainly would have saved us from Paul and the status quo nonsense the Parkers have been stuck in since One More Day crashed its way into the Spidey scene.
It's just so sad to realize that this was the last normal moment Peter and Ben ever got to have together before the Green Goblin would wind up destroying both their lives in very different ways.
