SpinLaunch: Catapulting probes into space | A Plane Crazy Documentary
Since the launch of the Soviet Sputnik 1, we’ve been exploring space with the use of rockets. These rockets consume immense amounts of fuel, increasing the costs of launching a satellite with several times the money a common man can make in his entire lifetime. Other than that, climate change and global warming is heating us up, and making our world tinier as water levels rise. There must be a way to make space travel environmentally sustainable, right? The answer is yes. At Spaceport America in New Mexico, acquired a just-formed company a piece of land. This company is SpinLaunch, and with their Suborbital Accelerator, and the L100 Orbital Mass Accelerator on paper, they want to launch satellites into the Earth’s orbit without the use of fossil fuel. In this documentary, that’s shorter than the previous 3 I posted, you’ll see how SpinLaunch wants to use a bigger version of your spin juicer at home for the sole purpose of spinning satellites into orbit, how the American electricity network is going to provide all the energy, and how it’s actually financially possible.
