Spinning Shield Boomerang & Chain Rod Combo on Poler Kamrous
Poler Kamrous joins Childre Inarabitta in the club of ice-elemental bosses that fall victim to the Shield Boomerang's “spin-to-win" tactic; a not-so-illustrious prestige. Unlike Inarabitta, the movements necessary to make this work are a tad more involved. Here’s how it works.
Although Kamrous’ movement could be described as lumbering at best, contact damage still presents a threat. Should you simply throw the Shield Boomerang at the wall and have it revolve around Zero while he stands on the ground, Kamrous will recover quickly enough after each hit to take a minor step forward, invalidating that as a potential approach. To circumvent this, I take to the air and I exploit the fact that Kamrous has precisely zero lift.
It’s a somewhat strict maneuver, but tossing the Shield Boomerang at the wall at the apex of a wall jump and letting Zero descend slightly will create the same orbiting effect that can be achieved on the ground. Naturally, as gravity is constantly dragging you down, maintaining this orbit isn’t a simple task. The Frog Armor combo doesn’t exist in Z2, so sticking to the wall directly isn’t an option. However, Z2 does bestow the trusty Chain Rod, which when latched onto a wall or ceiling, replicates that function. By attacking upward with the Chain Rod after the shield toss, Zero will grapple the ceiling and stay put, allowing the Shield Boomerang to orbit unabated while Zero remains out of harm’s way. The ceiling grab requires some finesse; you want to position Zero close to the wall so that the Shield won’t return to him prematurely while also avoiding imparting even the slightest swinging momentum while the Chain Rod is extended.
Kamrous’ attacking speed is so abysmally slow that once this setup is in place, there’s no way for the cycle to break. Every single move she has either takes an eternity to charge or is just a straight punch, which is rather useless considering the circumstances. Thus, Poler stands in place, frivolously swinging and attempting to conjure and shatter an ice ball, but to no avail. The revolving Shield will interrupt any and all attacks until the battle finally ends.
