My brain is the same way. I have triggers that remind me of certain relationships, whether it's big or small. I have memories and places that are sacred to me because I don't want them to be tainted.
On my best days, I can ignore them. On my worst days, I wonder how the other people are doing. I wonder if they're happy, if they think about me too.
It's a closed door, obviously. It still makes things interesting to wonder what life would be like if things were different; just as a curiosity, not a hope or a wish.
