Splatoon 2 gets its first paid DLC, and holy carp! This one's a doozy! Pearl and Marina even introduce it themselves.

The entirety of the Octo Expansion campaign takes place in a subway system known as Deepsea Metro. Although you have to use you Inkling to reach its stairs, your Inkling has absolutely nothing to do with this mode, because this mode is about an Octoling of your own personal design. Like with Inklings, can change the Octoling's gender, skin color, eye color, and hairstyle, but you only ever use one set of clothing.

Your Octoling will be woken up by an old man. Who's the old man? None other than Capt'n Cuttlefish! He's finally back! At first, he wasn't too keen on encountering your Octoling, because he doesn't like Octolings or Octarians in general because of what they did in the first game. He wanted to fight you!

However, although your Octoling lost their memories, Cuttlefish eases up on them after realizing that they also lost their weapon. Cuttlefish remembers that the Octoling fought against the first game's hero, Agent 3. But then, both of them were attacked by someone else. Next thing he knows, Agent 3 is gone, and both Cuttlefish and the Octoling were left in the subway.

For now, Cuttlefish forms a truce with their lone Octoling so they can find a way out of the subway, but another problem is that your Octoling lost their memories. However, Cuttlefish completely made amends with your Octoling when he finds them humming the Squid Sisters' Calamari Inkantation to themselves before waking up.

The game has your control the Octoling exactly the same way you'd control an Inkling. The only big difference is that hiding in ink means turning into an octopus instead of a squid.

Eventually, the lone Octoling and Cuttlefish encounter a Telephone. After changing his voice to include a lot of slang, the Telephone explains to the Octoling about the "Promised Land", and only those that can prove themselves by passing many, many tests are worthy to reach it.

This particular Octoling in your control is the 10,008th person to apply for these tests, but Cuttlefish just shortens this to calling your Octoling "Agent 8", which is what I'll mostly be doing from this point on.

So have Agent 8 pick up the CQ-80 device, and the CQ Card, then hop aboard a subway train to truly start the Octo Expansion!

Oh, at the end of the video, I go back to Inkopolis Square to open a gift for my Inkling. Buying the Octo Expansion DLC gives you a couple of Octo-based gear that you can wear in multiplayer battles anytime you want.

Remember, the your Inking has no clue of what's going on for your Agent 8 Octoling, but at the very same time, there are already Octolings roaming throughout Inkopolis and in multiplayer matches, right now...
