Splatoon 3: Side Order - Low Hacks Challenge! (3rd Attempt)
3Wanted to challenge myself and try to achieve the low hacks badge. The task is to clear Spire Of Order with 4 hacks or less (12 colour chips or more). Just to clarify, it’s NOT 4 hack categories that can be maxed out. It’s 4 small hack changes that can make this story mode a little easier overall. The setup I used in this run are as follows:
Max Lives: 2 (counts as 1 hack)
Damage Reduction: x1 (counts as 2 hacks)
Weakened Enemies: On (counts as 1 hack)
About the run:
This was similar to how I first played Side Order. Took a few practice runs to adapt to the extreme difficulty change. The final round is the one to play it safe the most. Basically, don’t get hit, because recovery speed of x0.5 and a 12 second cooldown before going back to normal means danger if you’re surrounded by a mass load of jelletons. Regular damage per shot doesn’t help either as time is lost, alongside losing ink and trying to recover. Using the splat bomb can be handy to clear a path or prevent a huge bunch of enemies chasing you. It can also be effective taking down objectives at a distance, as long as there’s ink to swim around. The Triple Splashdown is great panic option to clear the path before continuing. The last level was the most time consuming. Thankfully, the lucky bomb drops saved me on numerous occasions.
Nothing was spent in the vending machines, and I didn’t lose a single life throughout the entire run.
Tips:
- Try to get a mix of lucky bomb drops, a drone sub or special (preferably killer wail or inkstrike), damage, and squid attack. The rest is up to you. Choose wisely as the smallest changes can affect the overall gameplay.
- Play as many Easy and Normal levels as possible. Specifically, focus on the portals, 8-Ball, and fleeing foes. Avoid the zones levels, especially if it’s on Hard and Rigorous.
- Make sure you have enough membux to skip some harder levels, depending on what is available on a particular floor.
This was heavily edited to reduce the duration of the video to focus on the core gameplay, knowing I paused the game multiple times, especially during the final level.
