SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is an upcoming platform video game based on the Nickelodeon animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. It is a remake of the console versions of Heavy Iron Studios' SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, in development by Purple Lamp Studios and to be published by THQ Nordic for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game is scheduled for a release on June 23, 2020
Rehydrated will include additional features such as a brand new multiplayer horde mode for up to two players, offering either PvP or co-op, which is playable online and offline. Rehydrated will also include a remastered soundtrack, which is now stereo audio instead of mono. Content previously cut from the original game such as an antagonistic robotic counterpart of Squidward Tentacles, an earlier concept for Patrick Star's dream level, a cut phase of the SpongeBot SteelPants boss battle and many more cut content is being re-added. It is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and will support 4K resolution on the enhanced PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X models.
