This is just a short guide/reference for the most commonly used advanced techniques in Dawn of the Dragon Speedruns!

Over the last 3 years, we have had a lot of new players learning how to speedrun the game, and a lot of developments with both old and new tricks and the like. However with this new generation of players, myself included, there has been a lot of information that has been difficult to come by. Much of the advanced tech has not been documented well, with the most notable examples being that of a former top-level runner, Kasumi, who had uploaded many video clips and examples of things. As English is not their first language though, it was difficult for them to explain all of the tech from the speedrun effectively to others. Other examples of glitches and the like had been discovered individually by various other players, with a handful of video examples uploaded, however there was not much in the way of clear explanations for how to perform certain techniques, and no written documentation.

As of last week, I decided that we should at least have a short guide like this that covered all the tech already used in runs, as well as new, more complex glitches starting to be used and redefine the route in current runs. As a lot of these techniques do not have obvious visual cues of the inputs required to perform them (especially the case with Hyperspeed), a visual reference with clear explanations of the tech, alongside an input viewer, I felt was necessary. It should be noted that in some clips, specifically for HCC and Hyperspeed, the X and Y buttons on the input viewer are inverted by accident. They should be correct for every other clip though, at least in all instances where using a specific attack matters as part of the trick.
Another runner, Naytle, made a guide similar to this 7 years ago, but it is now a little outdated with all the new knowledge and discoveries made.

There is a lot more specifics to how all this tech can be applied in actual speedruns, however the difficulty for most seems to be with just knowing what to do in order to execute the tricks and such. Hopefully this serves as a sufficient guide and reference for anyone wanting to learn, and also can help clarify what is going on in the speedrun for spectators!
