SRB2 2023 OLDC R1 (FL Chan) | (7) ~ Robotropolis Tunnels & Sky Sanctuary
5Next up is Robotropolis Tunnels and Sky Sanctuary.
Robotropolis basically has a Pizza Tower gimmick where you have a limited time to escape the area, but you can add time by destorying monitors with a certain icon on them. I had trouble getting used to it, but it's not that bad if you can get the monitors in a smooth fashion. Once you reach halfway through the level, the timer will be stopped while you're in the city. On the other hand, the section is littered with enemies. Including new ones that are like the motorcycle enemies in Starlit Skyway from one of the UDLCs. Finally, the timer starts back up in the third section while having to avoid a giant robot sniping at you. Tbh, I'm not a big fan of the robot's design, but all-in-all a cool idea.
Sky Sanctuary is based on the Generations version, but it's unfortunately not as engaging as it is there. You do have warps to different sections reprising Lava Reef and Death Egg, but that's really about it. The level itself shares the same problem as Hollow Hill where it feels too big for its own good, you know? I even crashed at some point in the level once, which is why I had to turn my Draw Distance down. Alas, I do like the fact that Sonic R's Back in Time gets used for the remix in this stage.
