S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 - Heart of Chornobyl #143: The Poppy Fields (Part 3)
I continue to talk to Pomor and after giving him the 4 AKs and ammo, he gives me the location of the cellar belonging to Mityay. As I'm running to it, I come across a blue object in a field of red poppies, and I realize it is an artifact called "Weird Flower"that I grab and keep running. I find a dead Stalker inside the root cellar called Caesar, who has a Viper. I find the "Religious Icon" and grab it and then I'm back to Pomor. He offers me a rare weapon in exchange for the "Religious Icon", which makes me think he may have asked other people to get it for him.
I give the "Religious Icon" to Pomor. He says that is a smart move and that I'm a born Stalker. His last words are "The Zone is for folks who can put their own interests above those of others." I then realize that is what he is doing. He is getting people to go into the Zone to recover things and they die. Pomor sends more people to get their things, and some may bring him stuff, but some may die, and he doesn't care. Pomor just sits in the house safely and lets other people risk their lives to make him money. This is why I decide to kill him. No more people will die in the Poppy Fields. I walk away with 4 AKs, Caesar's Viper, Pomor's Viper, the Unknown Stalker's AR416, and the "Religious Icon" that I can return to Mityay.
Game note: The NPC in the root cellar is called Caesar, a single named NPC, lying next to broken glass, that looks like knives. The Roman Emperor Caesar was betrayed by his friends and was supposedly stabbed by them. I don't know if this NPC was supposed to have a background story and it was cut, but in context of what we see, it appears GSC is trying to tell us Pomor betrayed him. Pomor is Italian for tomato. Another clue about the Roman Emperor? Either way I think we are being told Pomor is a bad person because he entices people to go into the Poppy Fields, where they die, and he makes money by selling their weapons and ammo.
