S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 - Heart of Chornobyl #368: Mercs, Duty & Artifacts
When I was first exploring the Lesser Zone, I met a Loner at the Deaf Meadow, who wanted me to enter an anomaly field to retrieve his dead friend. I passed on the task, but I did not realize I couldn't attempt it later, and he would vanish so quickly. Since that time, I didn't really have a reason to return to that location, until the thought crossed my mind, I might be able to find some artifacts there.
Upon arrival at the location, I was attacked by some very aggressive Mercenaries, that were so focused on me, they fell victim to the many anomalies on the upper bluffs, surrounding the pit where the artifacts were. Then a Duty squad showed up from the same direction and went south to the Old Mill. On my way back to Zalissya, I ran into a second Duty squad, that ran across the road, that I followed, ending up on the southern road from Zalissya, and with darkness falling, I decided to return to town.
Game Note: The mechanics of artifact hunting, especially with the Echo, Hilka and Bear detectors, are probably the thing I like the very least about Stalker 2. With the Veles I can at least see the anomalies, to find the moving artifacts, because I find throwing bolts to navigate, extremely tedious and boring. I think throwing bolts to make artifacts temporarily disabled, is a nice mechanic for running through them, but less desirable for trying to grab a moving artifact. The anomalies simply return to their dangerous state too quickly. I am not interested in artifact for money but just mainly their properties to help me as equipped.
