S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 - Heart of Chornobyl #813: A Merc & A Dutyer
With a new day arriving at STC Malachite, I knew an Emission was due soon. I still just wasn't feeling like going in the train tunnel yet. I went around to the lake, meeting a couple of Spark at the campfire by the walls. I went to the rock boulder, to look to the east and then I was looking to the south, when I saw a lone figure running westward. At first, I thought it was a Bloodsucker moving that fast but then I realized it was a man.
I ran towards them, not knowing if there were any more men, and I got behind them running, when I realized it was a Mercenary. Not knowing if more were coming, I shot the Merc in the back and quickly looted them and turned to face anymore of his Faction. There were none, and I somewhat wish I had kept following behind him to see where he was going. I went west up the hill in the direction he had been going, but when my HUD turned red, I retreated. Had the Merc been chasing a mutant?
I returned to STC Malachite, with my meager loot and was soon going north towards the train tunnel. I tried to see if there was anything near the tunnel when I changed my mind and went westward, crossing the road and going up the large hill overlooking the valley, when I saw a flash of something electrical, that was not the same as electrical anomalies. This made me retreat, thinking of the flashes of light that would attack people.
I waited and carefully moved back to the top of the hill, seeing some large compound with watch towers. and I turned to the north and descended back into the valley, where I saw a crossroads and another massive complex beyond. Still wary of an Emission arriving today, I turned back to the east and then saw a lone figure walking near the road. I ran to them, realizing they were not hostile and being surprised to find a lone Dutyer. I had not seen anyone this far west, other than Spark and their I.P.S.F. support.
I briefly left the Dutyer to explore near the rock bluff and saw an abandoned vehicle far from the road. There was a Bubble anomaly next to it and then I realized there was a body. It was in a trench coat, so I couldn't tell if it was a Loner or Bandit. I was able to loot the body and return to the Dutyer, who was walking near the burnt grass, that was full of Butner anomalies.
