The flame particle system has lights module and cast shadow (2 sided) enabled. It also uses anim blend mode to smoothly transit between animation sheet frames which requires additional vertex streams enabled in particle renderer module.

0:16 Modifying HDR emission color of material which reacts with HDR Bloom and creates selective bloom effect instead of blooming everything.
0:37 Enabling camera fading. Set the proper threshold and each particle drop alpha value as the camera is getting closer.
0:58 Fiddling with distortion values which gives different refraction effect.
