Star Gladiator [Arcade] - play as 1st Unused Character
47This is a playthrough using the 1st unused character in the Arcade version of Star Gladiator. Read on below for more information...
This is an unused character (1 out of 3) in the game, which obviously means that she is an unplayable character.
In this playthrough, as a bonus I have included a fight against CPU Super Bilstein at the end. You can see it starting around 16:34 in the video.
===== ABOUT 1ST UNUSED CHARACTER =====
---- Graphically-wise, she is clearly in a "beta" state, meaning that she lacks textures/detail. She doesn't have a face, and there are also some small glitches and clipping issues with the face.
---- The vast majority of her stances, movements, animations and strikes are based on Hayato's.
---- Her throw is unique.
---- Her weapon design looks to be based on some kind of key or hair pin. The graphics for it also lacks textures and detail.
---- When striking, her weapon lacks light trails and it uses "wrong" sound effects.
---- She has at least one special move which is Hayato's Shiden and Kai slashes.
---- She has at least two "super moves", as follows:
.......... one where she levitates in the air and creates two sequential explosion auras that are unblockable. She loses a portion of her own life for doing this though.
.......... one where she spins and raises her weapon in the air, like a dance. This does not hurt the opponent and she will be stuck in this animation. To regain control, the opponent is required to hit her out of it.
---- On the character select screen, she uses June's image portraits.
---- On the character select screen her name text is June; and everywhere else the name is Hayato.
---- On the 2-player match versus screen, she uses Hayato's image banners.
---- She uses Hayato's voice in gameplay.
---- Both her costumes is the one we see in the video.
---- If you reach and beat Super Bilstein with her, you get a glitched image as her true ending. You can actually skip this and the game progresses as normal. You can see this starting around 18:08 in this video.
---- Perhaps this character was meant to be Kaede or even Rain from Plasma Sword?
---- Her general look has some similarities to Cupido from Toshinden Remix on the Saturn.
===== ABOUT STAR GLADIATOR =====
The game is basically a futuristic weapons fighter, largely inspired by the Star Wars franchise. The fighting system and mechanics is very typical of a Capcom fighting game... it's a bit like a flexible Street Fighter with weapons and "dial-a-combos". The character roster is certainly diverse, with robots, mechs, monsters and creatures as well as humans.
