If you're having trouble like myself at first, there it is. When your entering a battle, just make sure to press R3 from the right joystick to lock target the enemy and be sure the enemy face right in front of you. When the battle engage start, you'll going to float up while holding R1 and then let go. While you fly straight to an enemy, you'll either flick left or right using the left joystick, it'll happen. Hopefully, this short tutorial gives you absolute help, I'm pretty sure it will.

I read this tip from Gamefaqs, few claim the tutorial of the game that provided is not that helpful, I think I feel the same as well. Read some reply and finally got to do the trick.
