The official Star Trek Discovery theme music was a crushing disappointment. Temp-trackish music and non-synced visual editing. Here's a remix I threw together to make my new headcanon version. (Details below:)

My biggest goal was to *avoid* outright writing my own material. Many other people seem to have done fan remixes that way. I decided to have the original music present at all times, and to use only the original ideas to create anything I added. First I shortened the overly static expository section to give more time for development and use of the classic theme. I added only melody based on the motives already there (open interval jumps), and used only instruments already present. (Except the theremin. Star Trek needs a touch of theremin!) I timed the main theme's entrance near the end to the logo, and the video cuts to musical beats. I transposed the very beginning by one step to avoid an awkward modulatory jump, added a couple sub hits at the beginning because bass impact is fun, copy-pasted the brass theme with extra brass, juiced up the cymbal rolls, and (warning, warning, music theory ahead....) removed a harmony near the end that destabilized the tonal center so that the sense of motion was created via less stable cadential material within the expected key instead.
(Tl;dr: I did music stuff - like an editor not an author.)

There's a cut/paste or two I couldn't quite perfect via crossfading, I wish I'd added a dynamic fade to the long cello note - it's obviously a sample (although it sounds ok on *some* speakers), and the upper frequencies get harsh in the time-stretched portions. Spots I particularly ended up liking are - matching the trumpet fanfare to the hands touching @ 1:10, matching the G to Bb to the cable grab and visual cut @ 1:05, and the cello playing in octaves @ 0:35
(Tl;dr - I'm 98% happy with the results.)

Note: You will NOT hear all the material without full range speakers or a subwoofer. The bass effects are centered at 36Hz so you'll want, at minimum, speakers with 40hz as the -3 point.
(Tl;dr - Good speakers=fun)
