Star Wars Yoda Stories PC adventure game review. I got chatting with the guys at Eleven17 Studios on Instagram about rubbish Star Wars games. I challenged them to review Masters of Teras Kasi on their channel, and they challenged me in kind to review Yoda Stories, a 1997 Star Wars "Desktop Adventure" game for PC.

You might have noticed that we try to remain positive on this channel. There's loads of channels out there who make their money by ranting or by channeling anger, but over here we try to keep a sunny disposition as much as possible. Yoda Stories challenged that mindset, I can tell you. Whilst Yoda Stories for the PC is universally accepted as one of the worst Star Wars games ever, I really wanted to try and find something positive about it.

Long story short, Yoda Stories wasn't supposed to be received as an all-singing, all-dancing LucasArts PC adventure game. Monkey Island 3 had just come out, it's not like LucasArts didn't know what they were doing. Instead, the Yoda Stories PC game was supposed to be a cheap, fun distraction. Taking inspiration from casual PC games like Minesweeper, Chip's Challenge and the like, Yoda Stories was only supposed to be played in short bursts so never set out to push any envelopes or break new ground.

However the Yoda Stories PC game is still pretty bad, even when you take that into consideration. For what it is, it's okay at best. It's not broken, it's not even that hard. It's just quite tedious and boring for the most part. The idea of a quick PC adventure game you can jump into and blast 15 minutes on is a great one. It's the sort of thing the "new" LucasArts are making a living on, in the mobile market. Yoda Stories is a ground zero for that quick, casual gameplay which is now the hallmark of the modern LucasArts. I could see a Yoda Stories remake actually doing pretty well.
