The Retro Fighters N64 pad is better than the official Nintendo 64 controller. No hyperbole.

If you think the N64 pad is still a great controller then that's great. Good on you, you wouldn't want one of these anyway. But if you're of the opinion that classic retro games are best played on the original hardware, BUT you find it a bit of a struggle to get past the N64's unorthodox layout, then this N64 pad might be for you.

I'm not going to hammer on Nintendo's revolutionary 64 controller. For the time, the N64 control pad broke new ground and will forever be remembered as creative and innovative. But for me, as a retro gamer, I find the official N64 pad to be a bit of a hurdle. The analogue stick is weirdly placed by modern standards and a lot of games honestly play better through emulation with an Xbox pad. Even "crap" games like Castlevania are massively improved with a better controller.

This is where the Retro Fighters Brawler64 gamepad comes in. A breath of fresh innovative air for a 20-year old games console. I mean, this is exactly the kind of stuff we love on this channel. God bless the internet, letting a small cottage industry find their market. Better yet, to survive financially by serving a passionate niche of people who want high quality products for their specialty tastes.

The Retro Fighters Brawler 64 control pad is the best gamepad I've ever used on the N64. We're a PC-centric channel, so of course I gave this game pad a go on the N64 emulators and it worked like a charm. It is absolutely excellent on the original hardware though. We have a follow-up video to this coming soon where I'm comparing this to the OG N64 controller and having a bit of a multiplayer night in with the lads.

If you want extra pads for your N64, buying preowned, past best N64 controllers seems like a fool's errand to me. You can pay through the nose for one of those Hori pads or you can pick one of these bad boys up. It's new, it's clean and it works like a charm. No pubes, no fag ash. Top drawer components and it looks the part too.

Can't recommend this N64 pad enough. It really is the best N64 controller there is.
