Stardust (Amiga) - A Playguide and Review - by LemonAmiga.com
The original Stardust is an amazing update to the classic Asteroids/Computer Space game, but its quite challenging too.

This review came along partially as a request from a fan who requested it, and partly because at that time the game had been played in the Lemon competition and I knew it enough to get far. The play didnt go as expected. Forgetting to use the shield cost me two lives at critical moments, and in the end I chose the Bouncer instead of the fully powered up x3 way, and this meant I ran out of time.
As usual during this period, I captured this with Camtasia at 50fps. But the software only lets the user convert the file to a 30FPS .mp4, so I lost a few frames on the first tunnel sequence, which is noticeable. I've since switched to Open Broadcaster, running full 50fps with game sync, so it only captures what the game actually gives out. But there are perhaps 20 games still to convert using the old software, so you wont see the results of this upgrade for some time.
I deliberately took long pauses in the review just so the music could play out and the action unfold. This was after a comment on the Zeusdaz longplay, which said they were glad it wasnt commentated, as that would have spoiled the music. I think the music alone makes this a classic title.
BUGS!!!
First off, I didnt notice the doubled-up sound effects on the introduction reel. This was because the video contains the intro voices, and I also split the voices off to better fit with the music. In the final edit, it sounds like an acid trip (I guess), but at least the 'lemon amiga presents' is by itself, so it sounds intentional. So it just falls short of my 'three mistakes and its a reupload' routine. I watched a pre-production version on thursday, and it wasnt in there, so it must have happened at the last moment by some slip... but as I say, it now sounds quite cool actually.
Also...
I say the intro scroll was modeled on "Serials of the 20's and 30's". There were serials in the 20's, but the titles came with Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon in the 30's, and the '20s' part I forgot to edit out.
This production took all day Friday as the Intro cartoon animation was found to be broken as regards the stardust ship, so I had to wait most of the day for that to re-render. Then another 2 hours to render, and another 4 to upload it.
