Starfield on a potato PC Part 02 New solution and better performance!
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Apart from the solution described in Part 1, I also tried downloading various ini files from Nexus with different settings that should improve the game stability and performance. However, the major difference I noticed is to use this txt file: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1069 and use the console command within the game to execute it. HOWEVER, the trick to avoid making your game look like some indie RPG or old Medal of Honor, just toggle one of the options back to its original setting, namely: after you execute the file in the command console, type "togglelitebrite" which will turn the game back to its normal look. And that's it! Compare this part with my previous video - the difference is noticeable and the game is finally playable.
This video is not to mock the game in any way or make any accusations as to the quality of Bethesda's work, etc. It is simply my approach to be able to play the game at launch because I have been a huge fan of TES and Fallout games for many years, that is why I am very excited to check out their completely new franchise... in space!
You have probably seen many weird screenshots showing how Starfield looks like on lowest settings, etc. Most of them are probaly uploaded by trolls who use "potato graphics" mods and settings to simply make fun of the game to jump on the bandwagon. My playthrough is nothing like that. This is my genuine attempt to play the game, without trying to break it or search for bugs and glitches. This is how the game looks if you have a "weaker" GPU. My specs are as follows:
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
Intel Core i5-7400 CPU 3.00 GHz
24 Gigs of RAM
Although those are not "weak" specs (I have been able to play any game that has been released so far), I have been so far unable to play Starfield without major performance issues.
Thus, this is HOW THE GAME ACTUALLY LOOKS on lower settings, with a texture mod installed.
