Starfield on a potato PC Part 13 In the outskirts of New Atlantis
NOTE: This part was recorded before the latest patches dropped by Bethesda which means that the game now looks and performs better than in this video. What is more, meanwhile, there had been an update of NVidia drivers due to the release of CP2077 Phantom Liberty. Maybe it was a coincidence but that is when my game started to have random CTDs and freezes. So whenever there is a minor lack of continuity in music or scene, or I do something one more time - that is because of those problems.
For all the 'whys', please read the description of the first video in this playthrough.
In this part: I left New Atlantis in order to "complete" the location as such - discover all the POIs and survey objectives. I also wanted to check all the commotion caused by "invisible walls everywhere". I tell you what: it takes A WHILE to reach the invisible wall in this game, so if you read about someone who complains about them, they are probably one of those people who rush through the game just to tick it off their list or prove the game is bad at any cost. Being an RPG (not a space sim), Starfield offers a huge world as it is, there is really no need for "whole planets" because it would not make any sense. No Man's Sky or Elite Dangerous are great games but their size is a showcase of technological capacities rather than a game you can achieve a lot in. Their size is simply incomprehensible to a human being. Starfield offers a "very limited" exploration experience, but at least it's doable.
My specs are as follows:
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
Intel Core i5-7400 CPU 3.00 GHz
24 Gigs of RAM
Although those are not "weak" specs (I have been able to play any game that has been released so far), I have been so far unable to play Starfield without major performance issues.
Thus, this is HOW THE GAME ACTUALLY LOOKS on lower settings, with a texture mod installed.
