Starsector sort of reminds me of Wesnoth; not in style or mechanics, but in kind. Like Wesnoth, it's an indie game that been in development for a very, very long time, and like Wesnoth it's turned out fantastic. I bought this game in 2012 when it was little more than a combat simulator, albeit a good one; in the seven years since it has ballooned into a massive strategy game with colony management, fleet actions, politics, interstellar exploration, and a great deal more.
