Start Small and DREAM BIG in Super Mario Kart (SNES) - Retrogaming Easter Eggs
670In Super Mario Kart, there's an easy code you can input on the character selection screen that allows you to start the race in your smaller form - as if you've been shrunk by lightning or a mushroom. This gives you a significant disadvantage, so try this cheat code if you're looking for a challenge.
In any mode EXCEPT BATTLE MODE, on the character select screen, hold Y and press A. The highlighted character will shrink to indicate you've input the code properly. Now you can start as and character and you will be smaller than normal!
While your character is small, your speed will be reduced, and if you bump into any non-small racer, you will get flattened. Recovering from getting flattened normally reverts your racer to normal size, but if you utilize this code, you will stay small!
Oddly enough, if you run over a mushroom, your character will grow to normal size!
