Welcome to our Sunday Brunch! It is finally time to take to the air, and get told by a dog to go to space and shoot things!
Starwing (or Star Fox for any non-Europeans out there!) was released in 1993 for the SNES, and is the first game to utilize the Super FX chip that allowed for full 3d polygonal graphics.
The game follows the story of the two star systems, Corneria and Venom, and the war declared by the latter on the former by scientist Andross. General Pepper (the dog mentioned in the opening lines of this description) decides to utilize experimental aircraft known as Arwings to fight Andross' evil forces, but is unable to train new pilots for them.
Instead he enlists the mercenary team Star Fox, lead by Fox McCloud and his team consisting of Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare and Slippy Toad to pilot and fight their way to Andross on the planet Venom using the Arwings.
Starwing is a railshooter, and a very fun one that Magnus remembers fondly. Does it hold up today? Maybe not graphically, but it was revolutionary for it's time, and is still a fun game to play if you feel like some dogfighting action.

Sunday Brunch is our weekly couchgaming session, focusing on old retro games and consoles.
Join us as we brush the dust of our old retro consoles (well, mostly Magnus’, cause he’s a hoarder), take to the couch like it's 1991 and play some nostalgic favorites as well as crap ones. Both known and unknown stuff will be sampled, and sometimes played to completion.
