In this video, I'm continuing providing the 10 quick tips for beginners/new Steam Deck owners.

10 Quick Tips:
1. Setting your storage preference: to get your games saved on the SD card (since the game automatically starts downloading without prompting you where to save the game - internal drive or SD card), you have to set a ‘default install path’. Go to ‘settings’, then ‘storage’, so you can choose ‘internal drive’ or ‘Micro SD card’

2. Displaying FPS: The 3 dots button, called the ‘quick access button’ to bring the ‘quick settings’. You can change many setting but most importantly, you can adjust the ‘performance’ setting between basic/advanced settings. The performance overlay level allows you to have a live read-out of your FPS with more detailed info

3. Per game customization: another cool setting is the ‘use per game profile’. If you like customization, you can turn this option on, so you can have custom setting per game (for performance, visual quality level, battery life) so you can tailor your frame rate and refresh rate (you can lower the FPS to have a longer battery life if you’ll be away from your charger for a while), 40 FPS could be a good compromise and a better battery life

4. Changing controller order: when adding an external controller: press the 3 dots button, called the ‘quick access button’ to bring the ‘quick settings’, go to ‘rearrange controller order’ and change it to the order you want

5. Checking for updates: updates of your applications will only show in the desktop mode (I tried the game mode and it didn’t show – it showed ‘up-to-date’), so make sure to go to the desktop mode every once in a while to install your updates manually

6. Adjusting screen brightness: Holding the ‘quick access button’ with the left analogue stick (up & down) will adjust the screen brightness or you can enable adaptive brightness by going to setting – display – enable adaptive brightness (to fit your surrounding lighting conditions)

7. Disabling the screensaver: in game mode Settings – Display – Dim Display. In desktop mode: System Settings – Power Management – Energy Saving – On Battery/AC Power – Dim Screen

8. Keys & shortcuts: holding the ‘steam’ button for a couple seconds will bring up the shortcuts. Pressing the ‘steam’ button & X will bring up the keyboard. Your right track pad as your mouse and your left trigger (L2) for right click and your right trigger (R2) for left click. From game mode, pressing the ‘Steam’ button – Power – Switch to Desktop. You can go back to the game mode by clicking ‘return to gaming mode’ icon on your desktop

9. Adding a ‘non-steam game’: (works only) in the desktop mode: Steam – Library – Add a Game – Add a non-Steam game

10. Checking for updates: updates of your applications will only show in the desktop mode, so make sure to go to the desktop mode every once in a while to install your updates manually
