Steam Deck: State of the Art [Amiga Emulation] (4k60; Off Screen; Direct Feed Audio)
When it comes to Amiga computer emulation, I like to use this "mega demo" to test. The morphing segment at 1:22 typically causes massive hits to the emulator and slows down dramatically. As you can see on Steam Deck, it doesn't miss a beat.
For those unfamiliar with the Amiga, these megademos were "coder skill demos" from "scene groups" that actually had competitions as to who could stretch the machine to its absolute limits. This is a fan favorite.
To totally appreciate what you're seeing? This demo is running off of a "floppy disk" storing only 880kb (kilobytes; not MB or GB) with a computer running at 7.14mhz (not GHZ) with 1MB (not GB) of memory. This demo was released in 1992!
Note: The clicking sound you hear is part of the emulator; simulating the drive motor/head of the Amiga disk drive. It is NOT an issue with the Deck's emulation.
