Stellar-Fire Game Sample - Sega CD
Original Air Date: October 21st, 2009
I'm assuming that this game is part of the "Stellar" series, which include games like Stellar 7 and Draxon's Revenge. In this game, Draxon Cybernauts march across the galaxy hacking... blasting... and crushing all who oppose them. Your task is to battle across enemy-infested moons to reach the Draxon home planet and destroy it.
The game is extremely repetitive. You grab moon crystals pointed out on your radar which are hidden in seemingly endless stretches of nothing while zapping enemies with power-ups that don't add much to the experience (other than "Fat Boys", the mighty bomb). After flying around for crystals for five-to-ten minutes, all the enemies vanish and you face a big, polygonal boss. The bosses are interesting enough, but I don't think it's worth putting up with each boring level just to face them. The controls are slippery and the enemies mostly unimaginative, but the game isn't too hard as there are usually items placed at strategic points in the level (points where you might be suspected of dying). It's not a terrible game, but it's not really exciting. The music is kinda cool though.
