In an attempt to make the game more challenging, I tried to handicap myself by giving myself the worst empire I could think of. I started the game as a life seeded fanatic pacifist spiritualist, with conformist, nomadic, resilient, repugnant and slow breeders (personally I think non-apdaptive would've been worse on average than slow breeders, but a lot of people were telling me not to pick non-adaptive with life seeded.. I'll grant in this particular playthrough it was marginally worse to have something other than non-adaptive, but only because I completely ditched using my mainspecies altogether in which case no trait choices would've made much of a difference).

As far as the difficulty goes, I'm pllaying against grand admiral AIs with advanced starts for all of them, and an endgame start date of 2250 with a x5 crisis (of note, the crisis settings are the main reason I consider fanatic pacifist to be worse than going fanatical purifiers - fanatic purifiers would have a bit of a harder early game but once they get going they would still expand explosively and have a much easier time dealing with the crisis).

Some of the videos didn't record properly at the start, but they eventually started working again - I still don't know why that happens, but oh well.
