6Hey guys! I know this isn't a gaming video, but while we're talking about scraped and bruises I thought I would add a little 101 text on immediate care if you do get hurt. Here's the basics you can do immediately after getting a medium to minor wound that is not dangerously bleeding out:
You will need - disinfectant (preferably an iodine solution), warm running water, and antibiotic ointment or cream, non stick gauze pads, and gauze.
1. Clean as best as you can! If you are bit by something it is very important to get it clean as soon as possible! 50% of animal bites become infected within the first 24-48 hours if not scrubbed out. If have iodine, wash with iodine and warm water. If you do not have iodine available, rinse with warm water as best you can. This should take 30 seconds - 2 minutes depending on your bleeding. If you are waiting for someone to bring the rest of the supplies, leave it under warm running water.
2. Use an antibiotic cream if possible. No need to be over careful here! You can glop it directly into the wound or squeeze it onto a non stick gauze pad.
3. Place non stick gauze pads over the wound, press and hold to stop the bleeding. Use as many non stick pads as you need! I would not recommend leaving on regular stick gauze, as it can stick to the wound and tear any clotting.
4. Once the bleeding has stopped or slowed, wash and cream the wound again.
5. Place a clean non stick pad over the wound and wrap it with gauze.
With minor to medium wounds that are not bleeding out this will keep it well kept enough to get to the hospital to be properly scrubbed out and assessed for stitches. I know this all seems silly, but it can take you by surprise if it happens, so be prepared even for the smaller stuff! :)
