70Take a trip back in time to 2003. My family had just bought our first home computer, and I was able to freely explore the internet for the first time. One day out of boredom I decided to do a Google image search for Super Mario Bros. 3, and what I discovered from there instantly changed my life.
Strange Mario Bros. 3 is a really awesome rom hack created by Acmlm in 1999 and worked on briefly into into the 21st century. Featuring all new levels, graphics, overworld maps, and more it really is a testament to the kind of incredible things that you can do with rom hacking, even over 15 years ago!
That day in 2003 when I discovered Strange Mario Bros. 3 marked a monumental point in my life where the way I spent a lot of my free time over the following years would shape who I became. Were it not for me discovering rom hacking that day there is no telling when I may have eventually discovered it, and had it not been for many years later then there is a very good chance that I wouldn't have created Super Mario Omega when I did, and as mentioned in this video the release of that hack is likely one of my most pivotal life moments.
So sit back, relax, and listen to me ramble on like it's 2003 all over again. Were it not for Strange Mario Bros. 3 there is a very good chance that I would not be on YouTube making videos for you today, so I will always be thankful for how much this hack changed my life. I'd like to see Mario Maker ever influence someone's life in such a drastic way...
