This was my first shot on Strange World of Ethan pretending to chat with his crush in a creepy tunnel. He was initially supposed to be talking to his own shadow but the directors thought the acting sold the idea so well that it didn't even need it anymore!

Ethan is so relatable and expressive, and I wanted to play around with both masculine and feminine gestures. Even though I'm pouring a lot of myself into the acting, I'm drawing inspiration from Ethan's voice actor, Jaboukie Young-White. That meant watching all of his stand-up comedy shows and laughing the whole time! I'm also inspired by That's So Raven, that show has great comedic timing and exaggeration. And lastly, the Patrick Star nails meme-- 'cause I personally do this hand gesture a lot too haha

Ethan's animation supervisor, Malerie Walters, and the heads of animation Amy Smeed and Justin Sklar were all very supportive of my ideas and their guidance elevated the performance.
