家族からはぐれ、見知らぬ世界に迷い込んだ一匹の野良猫。この長い間忘れ去られたサイバーシティから脱出するため野良猫に求められていること…それは古代から解き明かされていない謎を解明することだ。
Stray』の舞台は細部まで緻密に描写された衰退したサイバーシティ。プレイヤーは猫となり三人称視点でネオン街や、ダークな雰囲気の裏路地を自在に歩き回り、真相を追っていく。どこか影のあるロボット達、そして危険なクリーチャーだけが存在する世界。招かざる者を寄せ付けないこの世界で、ある時は猫しかたどり着くことのできない高所へ、またある時は狭い隙間を潜り抜け、脅威から身を守り、この異世界の謎を解き明かしていく。
野良猫視点でこの世界を観察し、頭を使ってこの環境で生き残るのだ。時には忍び足で、時にはすばやく、場合によっては滑稽な動きが求められる。そして時にはうんざりするほどしつこいこの異世界の奇妙な住人たちに対処しなければならないこともある。
途中、猫は「B-12」と名乗る空飛ぶ小型ドローンと友達になる。新たに出会ったドローンとタッグを組み、助け合いながらこの異世界からの脱出を目指すのだ。

A stray cat, separated from his family, wanders into a strange world. To escape this long-forgotten cyber city, Stray Cat must solve an ancient and unexplained mystery.
Stray" takes place in a decaying cyber-city that has been meticulously detailed. The player takes on the role of the cat and, from a third-person perspective, freely roams the neon streets and dark back alleys in pursuit of the truth. The world is populated only by shadowy robots and dangerous creatures. In a world that does not allow uninvited visitors, the cat sometimes goes to heights that only cats can reach, and at other times sneaks through narrow crevices to protect itself from threats and unravel the mysteries of this otherworldly world.
Observe this world from the perspective of a feral cat, and use your head to survive in this environment. Sometimes you must move stealthily, sometimes quickly, and sometimes comically. And sometimes you will have to deal with the strange inhabitants of this other world, who are persistent to the point of being tiresome.
Along the way, the cat makes friends with a small flying drone that calls itself "B-12. The cat and the new drone team up and help each other to escape from this other world.
