Stream: Queer Games Bundle 2024 showcase pt2
I finish looking at a selection of indie games that caught my eye from this year's Itch bundle for Pride Month, the Queer Games Bundle. Get the bundle here: https://itch.io/b/2506/queer-games-bu...
Games played:
-Kitsune Zero, by Eniko. A platformer that hews very close to Super Mario Bros 1, but with a cute fox girl and a Japanese folklore theme. It plays well and looks nice! I played the "Any%" game, with 12 levels that I think are reused from the dev's earlier game Super Bernie World. There are more levels past this that I didn't play.

-Rusty Blade, by Kai. An adventure game in Bitsy 3D, so it has striking low-pixel graphics in nice little 3D dioramas. Based on a Famicase exhibit piece, this tells the short story of a retired adventurer, with some commentary along the way. Cool stuff.

-Fishin' for Average Caucasian Boyfriends, by jackie liu. A "semi-autobiographical" Game Boy homebrew, a short visual novel themed as a fishing game. You reel in nicely-drawn fish who represent potential boyfriends while hoping for something more. It's nice!

-Uprising, by Mordant Vox. A Vampire Survivors-like that has potential but is in a very early stage. I liked the spell concept and the idea of holding more and more guns as you level up.

-Moya, by abbax. Another early prototype, this shmup promises roguelike elements but they're very light at this stage. I liked the designs and becoming overpowered, as well as the unique ability to control enemy spawn rate so as to tailor the game's challenge on the fly.

-Do Gay Crime, by steff. This little sandbox game has you committing small-scale crimes in a park. It's cute and wholesome, with some nice dialogue and good queer representation via silly cartoon characters.
