"Streaming in the 90s!" - Playing Duke Nukem 3D in 1997 at 8 years old! #dukenukem3d
28I was only 8 years old on Christmas Day in 1997. One of the things on my Christmas list that year was the computer game "Duke Nukem 3D." I had played it at my uncle's house, so I was familiar with the game and knew how awesome it was. I wanted it so bad for my home computer, and my wish came true!
I was so excited that I asked my mother if she would grab the camcorder (which was a VHS camcorder) and record me playing the game. She agreed and a short video was made!
Fast forward to 2023, and I have found that old VHS tape. Using a capture card I transferred it to my computer, did some editing, and uploaded it for all to see!
The cool things about this video is it shows how I was ahead of my time. There was no streaming in the 90s, but using a VHS camcorder to record yourself playing computer games was the closest you could get at the time, and this video is proof that I did that at least once! I was basically streaming in the 90s before streaming was a thing!
