43Back in episode 163, I reviewed a game that I put COUNTLESS hours into when I was a kid, in Streets of Rage for the Genesis. At the time, it was clearly the best beat em up available on the console, and due to it's soundtrack and great control scheme, it's held up pretty well over the years, so I had no qualms about awarding it four stars.
However, this isn't that, this is a review of Streets of Rage for the Master System, a game that I hadn't played before this week. I hadn't really had much interest in playing it over the years, because I thought it was the same game as what was released for the Game Gear, and that version...isn't great. Thankfully, that's not the case, and what we have here is something far superior. How much better is it? And how well does it compare to the Genesis original? Take a look!
