Walkthrough:20. The Saracens

Can I ask why every mission I seem to do includes The Lionheart for some reason? Oh well. Look here and listen and you will learn appearing offline will not beat this mission, rather this guide will explain how to beat this mission where you are outnumbered and you have little room to work with, it will make you kinda feel like you are in that contortion pose called the human knot. So compact.

Anyways enough side talk. You are outnumbered 2 to 3 and the AI starts with 6000 more gold than you (silver lining is that Sam McGravy to your left also gets 6000 gold and assuming you put in your own work he should do a good job at beating the caliph under him with a pistol grip in the kneecap). The good thing about battling Arabian lords in general compared to european ones is that Arabic Swordsmen tend to melt against the fire of Crossbowmen. So setting up a rudementary defense of about 5-10 Crossbowmen and a Balistae should be enough to ward off an attack from the Caliph under you.

Now... MAKE MONEY! There are many ways to do it, I use the pause glitch (yeah yeah I am a cheater who cares at least I didn't pay 8000 for the sugary and pocketed 13k then proceeded to never really justify where it went but there are records I claimed it will be used for an unintended purpose of paying my house off). If you do not want to use glitches there is actually plentiful stone quarries and iron whatevertheyarecalledthatyoucanplaceironplaces right above you best friend Richard's castle. You can sell them, Also I would recommend using bread if you do not want to use glitches. Really after the initial attacks the Caliphs will run out of money due to lack of resources so this is more of a survival job. I would recommend sending around 5 Crossbowmen to help Richard against his Caliph that is immediately under him. For the Caliph under you, there are many ways to deal with him. You can try to brute force him with Horse Archers or destroy his walls and stuff with Catapults or Trebochets. Be sure to have a plan for the archers (unless you are using bulky troops like swordsmen... they can take a hit.)

Try to fund Richard a bit to help him defeat his Caliph. Really for the final Caliph he shouldn't have too much money by this point. You should be reasonably good at defeating the Caliph by this point so I shouldn't have to explain. Richard should eventually kill him with his attacking force if you are too lazy but this might take a minute.
