Part 27 of my playthrough of the Stronghold Warlords single player campaign. This is Chapter 3 of The Scribe’s The Path of Peace Economic campaign, the “Arming for War” mission.

Another Economic Campaign mission here. This one was the most intense so far. Having to balance gathering weapons to win while also spending weapons on troops to defend yourself was an interesting concept. I guess I messed up a bit at the start by sending my strong units to the enemy Warlord and leaving my gate undefended, which caused me to lose it, but I ended up setting up a tower down the road to defend the iron workers anyways so that gate wasn’t really needed. I left my Lord at the enemy Warlord and had him recapture him on his own until his health got too low, so I didn’t really have to commit any additional troops to that. I messed up again and let my Archers get trapped and killed by some heavily armored melee units, I should have pulled them away and microed the enemies down. After that I just kept a Bannerman and a few Soldiers by the base of the ramparts and was able to pretty easily defend everything for the rest of the mission. As far as the resources go I spent most of the early stuff on farms and woodcutters, and traded for wood with the Warlord instead of Iron so I could ramp up production quicker. I did start to get a little nervous that I wouldn’t finish in time because I started the Iron Mines and weapon workshops relatively late, but production ramped up quite a bit at the end and I ended up being fine. I also switched off sword and armor production once I had met the requisite amounts to allow the Iron to pile up for the Iron requirement. The only weird thing was that even though I had 37 out of 37 swords, the Victory screen wasn’t popping up, and it looked like the circle tracker wasn’t completely filled, so I made one more and the mission completed as soon as the worker placed the 38th one in the Armory. All in all a pretty fun economic mission with a decent amount of combat as well.
