Aoa! MY name Is Ehsan and welcome to Biology with Ehsan
In this lecture we discussed the first line of defense in immunity. The first line of defense is all about skin and mucus membranes.
We discussed the structural and functional features of the skin and came to Know that how skin keeps microbes out of the body.
Skin is basically comprised of three basic layers known as epidermis, dermis and hypodermis respectively. The outer most layer is epidermis which can be divided into three more layers.
The three layers of epidermis are basal cell layer, squamous cell layer and horny layer also known as stratum corneum. Basal cell layer is also known as stratum germinativum. We discussed that what type of cells are there in epidermis as well which include keratinocytes, melanocytes, langerhan cells and corneocytes.
In the next section we discussed the entire structure of dermis which comprises very important structures of skin like sweat glands, sebaceous glands, blood vessels, nerve endings, lymph vessels etc. we discussed all these structures in detail.
After watching this lecture, students will be able to answer the following questions inshaAllah.
What is first line of defense?
What is skin?
How many layers of skin ?
What is epidermis of the skin?
What are keratinocytes and keratin?
What are melanocytes and melanin?
What are langerhan cells ?
What are basal cells?
How to draw structure of skin?
How to draw diagram of skin?
Drawing and labeling of skin diagram?
How keratinocytes are formed?
Why basal layer is also called stratum germinativum?
What is squamous cell layer?
What is horny layer?
Why stratum corneum is also known as horny layer?
What is dermis of the skin?
What kind of structures are there in dermis?
What is sebaceous gland?
What is sebum?
What is hair follicle?
What are sweat glands?
What is the difference between merocrine and apocrine sweat glands?
How many types of sweat glands?
What the functions of nerve endings in dermis?
What is the function of Langerhan cells?
What is hypodermis?
What is subcutaneous layer?
How skin kills microorganisms?
How skin is a physical barrier between internal body and surroundings?
What is the function of melanocytes?
How keratinocytes flatten?
What is keratin?
What is melanin?
How melanocytes decide human skin color?
How the formation of new skin occurs after injury?
All these questions and many more concepts are addressed in the lecture.
The lecture is very important for biology class 11, 12.
