It's always seemed weird to me that it an almost purely aesthetic item like the Alien Containment was locked to mid/late game, so I decided to figure out how to get it early and put up a little guide on it. This strategy is totally safe and hardcore viable.

*Spoiler warning* Obviously, right? You'll need Seamoth, Seaglide, Rebreather, and a High Capacity O2 tank (basically all things you'd have by the time you had a Seamoth). A compass is recommended, but optional.

Head out to The Floating Island, and position your seamoth under the oasis. Go straight down to 199m (if you have depth upgrades you can go further), and swim down the cliff face you've come to using the Seaglide. You should see a hole in the ground that you can take deeper down around 300m. When you come out, turn north and keep heading down. At 450m you'll find the Degasi Seabase, which has the multipurpose room and the Alien Containment in the top section. I mess up a bit in the video and still make it out with more than 20 seconds to spare. With depth upgrades or a better o2 tank, you can do this with no risk whatsoever.

Alternatively, there are other ways to do this. You can use your repair tool to just outrepair the crush damage to your seamoth, but that honestly feels more dangerous and much slower. You can also do this almost at game start by just going the whole way down with the seaglide/rebreather/high capacity o2 tank, and then drowning once you've finished the scans. That's obviously not Hardcore viable, though.
