Suddenly the signal is red again! – irregular signal stop! | Signal drops back to stop!
Today we're turning our attention to a less common part of a train journey. In this video, we'll see how a signal suddenly drops back to stop. The reason for the signal stop is an irregular event, which isn't specified in detail. For a significant reason, the integrity of the route cannot be guaranteed in the next block, which is why the fail-safe logic of the control and safety technology comes into play here.
This journey excerpt also clearly shows the reaction speed and attention required of a train driver. If there had been a delay in reacting in this situation, the train probably wouldn't have stopped before the main signal.
Fortunately, even in this operational situation, no danger would have arisen if the train had slipped past the main signal, as the path in the next block was already clear of vehicles. In an emergency, however, these few seconds can be crucial.
