25Suikoden 「幻想水滸伝」is a Japanese role-playing game developed and published by Konami for the Sony PlayStation in Japan (1995), America (1996) and PAL territories (1997). The first of a series of games spanning multiple continents within the same world, Suikoden tells the story of the 27 True Runes and those that they come to inhabit, as the world struggles to survive under their influence.
McDohl is the son of a war hero of the Capital City of Gregminster, who one day comes into contact with one of the 27 True Runes. Unfortunately, the True Rune in question takes the souls of those closest to its bearer, leaving the owner in a perpetual state of loss. With this newly awakened power, amidst a country on the brink of civil war, McDohl must decide how to best use his new powers to save his homeland.
The game is another short RPG, but gives you a good taste of what to expect if you are interested in the future Suikoden titles. Is this game worth playing, despite its short length? Check out my review, and find out!
