This is my one of my favourite games, if not my favourite game, I played this year. I absolutely loved the constant pressure from the threat of hoards and the handful of pursuers. The details of the map changing while the overall shape remained really shakes up the Metroidvania genre. The pressure and map, combined with the art, and setting/atmosphere really make this game stand out. Between the skill tree and ability corruption, there is also a huge amount of variation in combat available to players.

I haven't played Metroid Dread as of the publishing of this archive (Look forward to January 2022 😉), but this game has already delivered on most of the gameplay promises. I will be measuring Dread against this game more than even Metroid Fusion.
