#668, won in two stages, this is the first Class III video that I
uploaded
At first, the maximum limit for youtube videos was 10 minutes and 100
mb. Due to these, 10 minutes maximum was managable, but 100mb was not -
with sprite heavy recordings I had to compress the clip twice resulting
in reduced quality and/or removal of sound. And before, I tried to
upload an air buster video but it was rejected since it was over 10
minutes (but less than 15) 30fps and I failed to set it at 60fps.
Videos that fit these limits are defined as "Class I" videos.
Later on, youtube increased the size limit to 2GB but kept the max time
at 10 minutes. Because of these, I was able to upload footage of stage
3 of snes macross which was less than 10 minutes but a bit larger than
100MB. Because it is unlikely to have an extreme video that crams 2GB
in 10 minutes normally (unless you increase the playback rate) the 10
minutes was now the limit and was feasible since most stages are
shorter than 10 min limit. Particularly true was "Final Soldier"'s
final stage, which was a pain to upload due to a poor connection and a
huge (~300 MB) size - this was relatively dense. Nowadays, the
increased limits allowed what were once oversized without heavy
compression (clips that were 100MB to 2GB big even after it was
partitioned into 9-minute 59-second chunks). These are now known
as "Class II" videos.
Nowadays, the limit time was lengthened to 15 minutes. So how would I
use that? I recorded a run of Super Bases Loaded and made it to the
ending in less than 15 minutes. How? I only played two innings, and the
second was a lot difficult. The secret? Score 10 runs, get 3 outs
without being penalized, then kill the enemy ASAP at the bottom. Repeat
this for the second game and hope for a perfect score. Beware, you may
not see it, but there is a difficulty spike at level 5. Now I don't
have to split this somewhat lanky but long giant into two. Thus, Videos
up to 2GB that are from 10 to 15 minutes long are referred to as "Class
III" videos
