It's hard to decide whether this or the original Contra is more difficult: the final boss of the first game was a lot more of a hassle (my shouting, "I'VE GOT BLISTAS ON MAH FINGAS!" wasn't just a goof, I actually did have aching fingers by the end) but the final *level* of this one is more of an overall nightmare. It's probably the one place in the game when getting the flame thrower (when it appears before the collapsing room) is preferably to having a spread gun even with rapid fire. This game is all about momentum, I suppose--all about learning how not to lose the power-ups you've already gained.
