Super Donkey Kong 64 (SM64 ROM Hack): Part 8/Finale | Hideout Helm & Final Bowser Battle
Welcome to the last and final part of Super Donkey Kong 64!
Earlier, I collected 49 of the 50 Power Stars in this ROM hack, including each of the seven Stars in the main seven levels of the game; Jungle Japes, Angry Aztec, Frantic Factory, Gloomy Galleon, Fungi Forest, Crystal Caves & Creepy Castle.
I've had an overall total of 4 Game Overs during the entire run.
In this 8th and final episode, I will try to go for the Power Star in the Hideout Helm; in order to collect it, I have to find and collect the 8 hidden Red Coins in this world.
My task in this level is to collect all eight of the Red Coins, then get the Power Star; I must do all of that BEFORE time runs out.
In this level, Mario is timed for one minute to try to get the Coins and then the Star; if time runs out, I will lose a life. Along the way, I will try to collect Bonus Time by touching the Clocks; each clock adds seven seconds to the time.
It takes me four attempts to get the Star; I actually quit twice, then I DID eventually lose a life trying to get one of the Clocks. Next, I quit the level a third time for backtracking during some point, thinking that--because of that mistake--I would've lost another life.
Now that I collected the Power Star from the Hideout Helm, I will purposely lose another life by letting time expire, then go to Bowser.
To enter the final battle with Bowser, I needed to collect all 50 Stars; once done, the door to K.Lumsy's Island will open; I will go inside and face Bowser for the Final Battle.
In this boss fight with the evil monster, he turns around a little bit faster than he does in the original SM64, making it a little bit harder to grab his tail; the best bet is to wait for him to try to breath fire at Mario, then quickly grab Bowser's tail to swing him around and press the B button to launch him into the mines. What ALSO makes this battle harder is that when Mario takes damage by Bowser, he loses HALF his health instead of one-fourth of it.
I have some trouble doing this battle with Bowser and I ALSO continuously mistime the pressing of the B button to launch him into the mines.
All the trouble I had made me lose one more life.
But eventually I DO defeat him, grab the Giant Star and end the game with a picture of Mario, Donkey Kong, Pauline and a blue polka-dotted Toad.
How well will my luck go in the Hideout Helm?
How well will I square off against Bowser?
Tune in to find out for yourselves, and I will see you guys next time for another video game/OST coming soon!
And I'd like to thank Kaze Emanuar for creating this ROM hack; it's a really good ROM hack of Super Mario 64 that I really enjoyed playing.
Would I recommend this Mario hack to you guys? Yes I would! You should try it, it's a lot of fun!
