Super Double Dragon and Return of Double Dragon
3Super Double Dragon (US) and Return of Double Dragon (Japan) being played back-to-back. I wanted to get a first-hand experience on the differences between the two titles. The core gameplay is still the same in the Japanese version. However there are some differences in the enemy AI, Jimmy Lee's moves (does a spinning roundhouse instead of a spinning wheel kick), both Dragons hurricane kick does bigger damage and hits multiple times, the sound, longer final stage, ability to switch weapons while standing over them, sound effects, options for difficulty, continues, and music test.
In the US version, the enemies take more of a beating but their fight IQ is low...even the bosses. On the Japanese version the enemies duck and counter often, always try to pin you in the middle, but seems to do less damage...slightly...knives for sure do less. I enjoyed both games, and will likely play the Japanese version more due to the enemy fight IQ being higher. Plus I love that roundhouse that Jimmy Lee does...its one of my favorite kicks in real life.
